About
Pistachio Brief keeps track of California pistachio updates and leaves out what isn't useful.
Why we do this
A pistachio grower planning for bloom needs different information from a handler selling the crop. Pest control advisers (PCAs), suppliers, researchers and orchard managers have other questions. Putting every update in the same feed leaves each person to do the sorting.
Most of our work is deciding what to leave out.
What we cover
We cover chill and bloom, water, salinity, pests, harvest, nut quality and pistachio sales. Updates should tell you which orchards or businesses are affected and what changed. We post them as information comes in.
We start with pistachio production and market reports, university research, agency notices and water district updates. We also read trade and local news. Links in the articles take you to the reports and notices behind them.
Who runs it
Verdus Labs, Inc. owns Hectare Brief, which includes Pistachio Brief. We use software to find information and draft articles. We choose what gets published and are responsible for errors.
